home in santa rosa safe and sound. >>> happening now, cars are back on the track at marysville raceway north of sacramento a week after a crash that killed a north bay teenager. before the race started there was a moment of silence for two teens. a driver lost control and crashed into the pit area. some say this is what the fans and the drivers want. >>> a deadly head-on crash shut down lanes in highway 84 for several hours. the highway patrol says a pickup collided with a car at 1915 killing one person. -- 9:15 killing one person. the coroner identified the victim as 46-year-old todd sure of hay ward. the highway fully reopened at about 2:20 this afternoon. >>> san jose police are investigating this accident between a scooter and that santa clara county sheriff's patrol car. it happened at 12:30 this morning at west heading street in the alameda. investigators are trying to determine if one of the drivers ran a red light. two people on the scooter were hurt but their injuries are not serious. the deputy was not hurt. >>> the manhunt continues for that san jose man suspected of killing
of life, he's certainly setting a good example. >>> hundreds of people gathered at a church in santa rosa this afternoon to remember a teenage boy who was hit and killed at a racetrack last weekend. the family of 14-year-old marcus johnson held a private funeral yesterday and today was a chance for the community to participate as well. johnson was killed when his 17-year-old cousin spun out of control during a pre-race warm-up last weekend. a 68-year-old man was also killed. he owned another race car at that track. today johnson's family, friends, teachers, and coaches shared their memories as they grieved a young life lost too soon. >> i know several of the players, one of them i liked immediately was marcus. he stood out because of his friendly demeanor and hard work ethic. >> johnson was an eighth grader at rincon valley middle school in santa rosa. his family says his dream of all dreams was to drive a ferrari formula one race car on tracks around the world. >>> this evening, the chp is trying to figure out what a man was doing on an open freeway when he was hit by a car and killed. t

(applause) >> and i believe that those four students in greensboro also made the accomplishments that we he attribute to martin luther king as a symbol of the movement. martin luther king understood that many of the things that we attribute to him would not have been possible without the grassroots of the struggle. and that brings me back to the book that i've written about the last 50 years. when i was a teenager, a 19 year old, i went to the march on washington. and right before going, i met some of these young activists who are associated with the student nonviolent coordinating committee. i must say that that affected the way in which i viewed the march. like everyone else, i wanted to see what martin luther king's concluding speech would be. but i was also interested in the speech of john lewis who was the chair of the student nonviolent coordinating committee. just days before the march, i had met one of the snick activists at a conference. his name was stokely car michael. and from that time on, i understood that when we

to 70 degrees, not quite there in santa teresa, 57 in san jose, 67 in santa rosa. let's get you outside with the sky camera network onxd this thursday. you can see in san jose, the palm trees blowing around, winds at 10 to 20 miles an hour. that is kicking around with the pollen, if you suffer from allergies, that makes it tough. the cars are stacked up, maybe to get a little bit of this, look at this, downtown san francisco, right inside the embarcadero area, and water temperatures in the low 50s, wave height to the immediate coastline, anywhere from five to seven feet. what is happening in the next several days, plenty of cloud cover, rainfall, high pressure will set up shop, drive down slightly northerly winds, going a little bit offshore. that will help the temperatures to warm up about five to seven degrees from what we had today as we get through the forecast. tomorrow, i do think we'll have a little bit of coastline. the best chance, a little bit of fog at the coastline. the best chance, once again through 7 or 8:00 in the morning, temperatures in the mid-40s, also near 40 degree

. a teenager from santa rosa and a man from grass valley were killed when a car driven careened out of control and into the pit. thomas roman is live in santa rosa with the story. reporter: we learned that 14-year-old marcus johnson was also a sprint car driver. this memorial to him at his father's muffler shop has been growing since neighbors and friends learned of his death. the communities have been devastated by the tragedy. the start of the civil war sprint car series took a tragic turn friday night. in a practice run chase johnson lost control. kylely bumpus watched the car leave the track. >> we had

a raceway crash that killed the 14-year-old boy from santa rosa this weekend. marcus johnson died when his 17-year-old cousin chase lost control of a sprint car and crashed right into the pit area at the raceway. the johnson family now said chase tells him the steering wheel in his car came loose as he entered a turn. that ultimately caused the crash. the family said that car was new. at this point it's not clear why the wheel would come loose. the crash happened while chase johnson was driving warm-up laps for an upcoming competition. >>> we are on stormwatch. meteorologist christina loren is standing by with a look at potential rain onot potential, there is rain coming to the bay area. >> right, there is. i've been wrong before, but not many times. it is happening, got to be honest. temperatures are looking pretty good. nice and mild. all the cloud cover overhead subtropical moisture. feels muggy, tropical. last day of winter. it's going to feel winter-like tomorrow for the first day of spring. temperatures getting close to the 70 degree mark just about everywhere. here our counterclockw
